They are the same shade in different arrangements. This single hangs from its own canopy, so if you want three over an island you buy three and you need three ceiling boxes. The 3, 4 and 6-light versions drop several shades from one canopy on a single box, which is the easier install if you only have one wire in the ceiling. Go single when you want to control the exact spacing yourself, or when you only need one light.

Two for islands up to about 6 feet, three for 7 to 9 feet. Space them 24 to 30 inches apart and keep the outer pendants at least 6 inches in from the ends so the grouping stays centred. Over a breakfast bar or a narrow peninsula, two is usually right. On its own it suits a bedside, a reading chair or a small counter.

It breaks it up. A smooth shade gives you one even glow; the ribbing turns it into soft vertical bands that fall onto the counter and spread onto the wall behind. It is decorative light as much as functional light, so over a work surface plan on other light in the room as well.

Yes, with an external dimmer switch or a dimmable smart bulb. There is no integrated dimmer in the fixture, so you can use whatever system you already have. If you are on a wall dimmer, make sure it is rated for LED loads.

It's a hardwired fixture that requires installation. If you're replacing an existing ceiling light on the same box, many people handle it themselves. If you're adding boxes for a multi-pendant run, use a licensed electrician.

Turn it off and let the bulb cool first. A dry microfibre cloth handles dust. For marks, a barely damp cloth and a dry buff. Don't spray cleaner directly at the fixture, spray the cloth. The ribbing catches dust, so a soft brush is useful.

No, it's rated for dry locations only. Keep it out of bathrooms with a shower or tub, and out of anywhere exposed to damp, including covered outdoor areas.
